Notes

Mount Iuktas is located in north central Crete and was an important religeous site for Minoan peoples. On top of the mountain is the Iuktas Peak Sanctuary. This excavation was lead by Sir Arthur Evans. The sanctuary would have served the Minoan village that previously existed nearby in ancient times. However, there is a moden settlement at the site now which has rendered further excavations impossible.
