Notes
Vathy harbor is considered to be Ithaca's safest natural harbor and is located just near Mount Nirito. It is recorded that there was a temple to the god "Forkyn" located in the bay during ancient times. Ithaca, based on the story found in Homer's epic, "The Odyssey", would have been the home to and kingdom belonging to the hero Odysseus. According to the Ithacan Philanthropic Society, it was recorded that in the legend Odysseus secretly arrived back on Ithaca at "Dexia", which is located beside the entrance of the port of Vathy.
