Notes
The slide trasncription indicates that this image was captired in Missolonghi, a region of Western Greece. According to the Museum of Cycladic Art, the monument was dedicated to the Greek liberator Markos Botsaris. The Greek child at "The Tomb of Markos Botsaris" was sculpted by David d'Angers around 1834 after the death of Markos Botsaris. After he completed the work, he donated it to the Greek government. Eventually, the original sculpure had to be replaced with a replica because it was valdalized in Missolonghi. The original sculpture is now on display at the National Historical Museum of Athens.
